CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is a version of the CMM model. The early CMMI (CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD) 1.02 version was a management approach for software industry projects, initially promoted and tested in certain countries and regions by SEI. With the expansion of its application and the development of the model itself, it has evolved into a widely-used comprehensive model and certification. The primary goal of the CMMI certification standards is to eliminate inconsistencies and redundancies among different models, reducing the cost of model-based improvement. CMMI will guide organizational improvement in software processes with a more systematic and consistent framework, enhancing the development, acquisition, and maintenance capabilities of products and services. Currently, the CMMI certification has been upgraded from the original CMMI V1.1 version to the CMMI 1.3 version, which covers not only software enterprises but also all types of R&D-oriented enterprises and organizations.
