Slurry Pool Sand-Water Separator Introduction

The sedimentation pond's function is to remove relatively dense inorganic particles (such as mud, coal slag, etc.). Typically, sedimentation ponds are set before pump stations and siphon pipes to reduce wear on pumps and pipelines by these particles. They can also be placed before sedimentation ponds to alleviate the load on the sedimentation pond and to eliminate the impact of particles on anaerobic digestion of sludge.

The pipe carrying the slurry enters the pool, where inorganic particle settle at the bottom due to gravity, resulting in generally poor treatment effects. One significant advantage of the aeration sedimentation tank is that it allows sand particles to rub against each other under aeration, effectively removing organic pollutants adhered to the sand particles. Additionally, due to the air flotation effect of aeration, oil and grease substances in the wastewater rise to the surface to form scum and are removed. For wastewater treatment plants designed for biological phosphorus removal, aeration sedimentation tanks are generally not used to ensure phosphorus removal efficiency. In recent years, the vortex sedimentation tank, which is increasingly widely used, controls flow state and velocity with mechanical force. Its main advantages include a small footprint, minimal impact of water volume changes on sedimentation, excellent sand-water separation, low moisture content in the separated sand, low organic content, and ease of transportation. Considering that the design flow rate for this project is relatively small, flow fluctuations have a significant impact on the horizontal sedimentation tank, so it is not used. Moreover, it does not meet the shallow water depth requirements of the aeration sedimentation tank. Therefore, a vortex sedimentation tank is adopted. However, it should be noted that the spacing of the fine格栅 should be as small as possible to prevent the entry of objects like strips from affecting the impeller and other devices such as the sand lifting pump.
