Diesel generator sets are power generation equipment primarily fueled by diesel, utilizing diesel engines as the prime mover to drive generators (also known as dynamos) to produce electricity. These machines convert kinetic energy into electrical and thermal energy. The complete diesel generator set is mainly divided into three parts:
Diesel engine.
2. Generator (also known as an electric ball).
3. Controller
In detail, the components include the base, diesel engine, base fuel tank, generator set (also known as an electric ball), controller (which controls and protects the set), radiator (air-cooled: fan; water-cooled: water tank), and soundproof enclosures, among others. According to varying local demands, we categorize generator sets into fixed and mobile trailer types. To reduce noise emitted by the generator set and minimize disruption to work and living environments, designers have developed noise-reducing models with soundproof enclosures. This involves installing a metal box externally, lined with sound-absorbing material to protect the generator set. The box is equipped with doors for easy maintenance and control. The soundproof enclosures not only lower the noise but can be placed outdoors, acting like a shelter from sun and rain, alleviating the hassle of finding a space for a generator room. Diesel generator sets are divided into regular and backup types, with power ratings corresponding to regular and backup power. The standard regular power of each generator set is typically 80% of the backup power. For regular use, rely on the national grid; use the backup diesel generator set only when power outages occur. For long-term operation, opt for the regular diesel generator set, which can run for over 300 days a year with regular maintenance. The relationship between regular and backup power is as follows: if a user requires a 100KW diesel generator set, the backup 100KW set's regular power is 100KW * 80% = 80KW. That is, the regular power of a backup 100KW diesel generator set is 80KW. If a soundproof enclosure is added to the diesel generator set, the power rating will typically decrease by about 10%. Therefore, when purchasing a diesel generator set, users should consider the power reduction issue caused by the soundproof enclosure.
