March-April 2020, the Dong'an Lake Sports Park Diving and Swimming Center, located in the core area of Chengdu's "Dongjin" strategy, is the main venue for the 31st World University Games in 2021 and the venue for the 12th World Games in 2025.
This project involved backfilling within the indoor frame structure, utilizing the self-leveling and self-compacting advantages of pre-mixed flowing soil cement, while effectively overcoming the adverse factors of the local expansive soil. Through detailed construction organization, a combination of pumping, chutes, and direct placement methods was adopted based on the on-site conditions, using a multi-point, multi-level, and compartmentalized approach. Continuous work for 12 days without interruption resulted in the completion of nearly 30,000 cubic meters of backfill, significantly shortening the construction period for the indoor backfill of the main venue, and effectively advancing the smooth progress of the project.
The extensive use of fluidized soil for this project has saved over half of the construction time compared to the original sand and stone backfill plan, significantly conserving natural sand and stone resources. It has not only generated favorable economic and environmental benefits for all parties involved but also addressed the engineering challenges of filling narrow and irregular spaces, while also dramatically reducing the quality risks associated with settlement and backfilling.
