PPS Plastic Injection Molding Process
1. Polysulfone has low water absorption, high melt temperature, and low viscosity, usually requiring no drying treatment before molding. For special requirements, it is recommended to dry at 150℃ to 160℃ for 2 to 3 hours.
2. Typically, during the molding of large pieces, the cycle time per iteration increases, and the residence time of the resin in the barrel also grows. After prolonged retention at high temperatures, the resin may exhibit a darker color and slightly reduced fluidity, but this has little impact on the resin's properties. Generally, for large molding barrels, lower temperatures are used, with molding temperatures ranging from 290℃ to 360℃, and specifically 315℃ to 330℃.
3. The surface brightness of the product varies with the injection speed; the faster the injection speed, the better the surface luster. However, this can lead to warping and scorching of the product, so attention must be paid. Generally, a moderate injection speed and higher injection pressure conditions are used for molding. Hongrun Pigments: 3132 Red Powder, Durable Red BBN, Durable Bright Red, Golden Light Red C, Durable Bright Red 2BP, Solophyll Red 4BP, Solophyll Red BK, Permanent Red F3RK, Permanent Red F5RK, Pigment Red 122, Pigment Red 254, Organic Middle Yellow, Organic Lemon Yellow, Durable Yellow G, Permanent Yellow 2G, Permanent Yellow HR, Pigment Yellow 81, Pigment Yellow 110, Pigment Yellow 139, Pigment Yellow 151, Pigment Yellow 180, Permanent Orange G, Pigment Orange 64, Phthalocyanine Blue BGS, Phthalocyanine Green G, Pigment Violet 19, Permanent Violet RL, and other organic pigments. Injection pressure: 500-2000 kg/cm2, with a typical range of 900-1500 kg/cm2. To prevent inconsistent weight variations in the molded products, applying some back pressure (around 5 kg/cm2) ensures stable molding.
4. Polysulfone is a crystalline resin, and its properties such as the change in molding shrinkage impact strength, long-term thermal deformation temperature, surface hardness, creep resistance, resistance to hot water, and weather resistance are all influenced by the degree of crystallinity. Therefore, during molding, the mold temperature should be appropriately controlled, with a requirement of 50℃ to 180℃, preferably between 120℃ to 160℃. If the surface condition of the molded product is poor, lacks luster, or has poor size stability and insufficient rigidity when in use, consider increasing the mold temperature to above 140℃.
5. Nozzle: An open nozzle is sufficient for molding, but to prevent overflow, it is recommended to use a closed nozzle. The heater for the nozzle can be controlled separately, which is more convenient for molding. The tip of the nozzle should have a conical shape with an angle of 2-3°, with a diameter of φ3-6.
