Coupling Agent
Acoustic coupling between the probe and the workpiece surface is nearly always required, and a coupling agent is typically needed. The various types of coupling agents we offer are suitable for most applications.

In typical ultrasonic testing (UT) and thickness measurement applications conducted in open environments, applying a thin layer of coupling agent allows any formed gases to dissipate quickly. However, if there is a significant concern about the coupling agent gases spontaneously combusting and producing a flash (which is unlikely), this coupling agent should not be used above the auto-ignition temperature.
