AxSEAM semi-automatic scanner for longitudinal seam inspection

The AxSEAM scanner is highly suitable for detecting weld seams in long seams, such as those in resistance-welded (ERW) pipe joints. Its design is simple, with easy operation, significantly reducing the number of adjustments needed when the pipe diameter, probe spacing, or scanning direction changes.

Thanks to the innovative ScanDeck module, an operator can independently set up and complete scanning without the need to control or monitor data collection instruments. The redesigned, easy-to-adjust probe holder can support up to 4 phased array (PA) and time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) probes.

Versatile multi-technology solutions

The AxSEAM scanner, when used with the OmniScan X3 flaw detector, allows for a rapid PA/TOFD scan of long weld seams first, followed by more targeted detection of the area of interest using the full focusing method (TFM) without changing the probe.

The Full Focus Method (TFM) allows for uniform focusing within the area of interest, thus making it easier to detect defects that are typically found in the long seams of resistance welding (ERW), such as vertical defects and hook-shaped cracks.

Flexible configuration

The AxSEAM Scanner is a complete scanning system, easily adjustable for seamless transitions between longitudinal and circumferential pipe scanning.

Longitudinal scan

The AxSEAM scanner, designed for UT inspection of焊接long seams, is performing an axial scan on a resistance-welded steel pipe.

The AxSEAM scanner can inspect longitudinal welds on pipes with outer diameters ranging from 152.4 mm to flat.

Weekly Sweep Inspection

A scanner for UT inspection of resistance welding long seams is performing circumferential scanning on a resistance-welded steel pipe.

The AxSEAM scanner, equipped with 2 probes, can inspect circumferential welds on pipes with an outer diameter as small as 114 mm.

When the AxSEAM scanner is equipped with 4 probes, it can scan the circumference of pipes with an external diameter of 254mm or more (as shown in the above image, a pipe with an outer diameter of 324mm is depicted).

Reengineered Probe Bracket

Our innovative probe design features the following characteristics to ensure easy operation of the probe and wedge, stable positioning of the probe, and a consistent coupling effect:

Through the ScanDeck module, control data integrity

The ScanDeck module is always within your line of sight, equipped with practical indicator lights and functions to keep you focused on scanning:

• Monitor the scan speed and coupling effect to help prevent data loss from the OmniScan X3 instrument.

• "Zero-out" the encoder connection and initiate the collection operation on any model of OmniScan instrument.
  

• Upon activation of the laser guidance device, it aids the scanner in aligning and scanning weld lines or markings.
