UT2 TOFD Module and MXU Software
The Olympus OmniScan MX2 UT2 module represents a powerful and cost-effective TOFD inspection solution. Its numerous enhanced hardware and software features enable users to perform weld inspections more quickly and conveniently with TOFD technology. Its high-quality signal-to-noise ratio ensures superior data quality for TOFD inspections.
Enhanced features
TOFD Guide
PCS (Probe Center Distance) Calibration
Clear B Scan
Multiple TOFD configurations
Direct Wave Straightening
The TOFD group has a higher PRF.
Higher voltage (up to 340V), eliminating the need for a pre-amplifier
These enhanced features allow for faster and simpler setup, improved collection display, and more accurate quantification of defects, thereby increasing overall productivity.

Multiple TOFD layouts
Multiple TOFD layouts can display more than one group at a time. This allows for easy localization and quantification of defect indications through visual correlations between the groups.

Direct Wave Straightening
The Direct Wave Straightening Tool offers a more continuous display view, making it easier for users to interpret data within the view. The Direct Wave Straightening feature also allows for more precise assessment of defect depth and size.

The software enhancement features mentioned above have also been incorporated into OmniPC, allowing users to analyze data on their PCs while simultaneously re-deploying the OmniScan instrument for another round of data collection.
Dedicated scanners and accessories
HST-Lite TOFD Scanner

The new HST-Lite scanner is an excellent choice for high-quality, cost-effective single-channel TOFD testing. This scanner features a magnetic wheel and spring-loaded probe holder, providing the necessary stability for high-quality linear scans. The scanner can be operated with one hand, is magnetic and can be adhered to ferromagnetic surfaces, even in inverted position for scanning.
Stainless Steel TOFD Wedge
The standard configuration of the HST-Lite scanner, purchased as a set, includes a new type of stainless steel TOFD wedge. These wedges are considered a significant upgrade and replacement for the standard Rexolite wedges, offering a superior choice for most applications. These wedges feature multiple advantageous characteristics:
Enhanced wear resistance, no need to adjust the wear-resistant rivets for the hard alloy strips
Enhanced coupling effect, as using hard alloy strips to prevent wear can lift the wedge block from the surface
Shorter contact distance (3mm) allows for better coverage of the weld seam's top.
More robust and durable, with a longer service life.

The new stainless steel wedge block (on the left) features a shorter contact distance (3mm), allowing for better coverage of the weld area.
These wedges are compatible with Olympus' high-performance TOFD probe series.
TOFD inspection for small-diameter pipes
These TOFD wedges, designed specifically for use with the mature COBRA scanner, are suitable for inspections in confined spaces. They are compatible with ST1 probes with a chip diameter of 3mm and are used for inspecting pipes with diameters ranging from 1 to 4.5 inches. These wedges come in various longitudinal wave refraction angles, allowing users to order wedges for specific pipe diameters or a set that includes wedges for inspecting pipes of various diameters.

The COBRA small diameter pipe scanner can be used for TOFD testing with suitable wedges, cables, and probes.
