Cobra Small Bore Scanner
The COBRA manual scanner, when paired with the OmniScan phased array (PA) flaw detector, is designed for inspecting circumferential welds on small-diameter pipes. The COBRA scanner can accommodate up to two PA probes and is suitable for inspecting pipes with an outer diameter ranging from 0.84 inches to 4.5 inches.

Due to its slim design, this manual scanner is capable of inspecting pipes with extremely narrow surrounding spaces. The distance between the inspected pipe and surrounding objects, such as piping, brackets, or structural frames, can be as small as 12mm. Equipped with springs, the scanner can be wrapped around pipes of different diameters made of carbon steel and stainless steel by using a varying number of chain components. This unique feature allows operators to install and control the scanner from one side of the piping. The COBRA scanner features smooth coding movement on pipes, enabling the collection of precise data. Up to two phased array probes can be mounted on the scanner, completing the inspection of the entire weld in a single scan. For inspecting the welding joints of straight pipes and fittings, the scanner can be quickly configured for single-side detection using a single probe.
This Olympus solution employs thin phased array probes optimized for focusing on the sub-axis, enhancing the performance for detecting minute defects on thin-walled pipes. We also offer a range of specially designed thin wedges, suitable for various pipe diameters covered by the scanner, thereby perfecting this solution. The COBRA scanner applies stable, consistent, and strong pressure across the entire circumference of straight pipes, thereby generating high-quality UT signals and achieving precise coding effects.
For various applications, the COBRA solution can utilize different probes for testing. You can choose from the following probes to perform phased array, TRL dual crystal linear array, or TOFD ultrasonic technology testing:
The solution employs a thin phased-array probe with optimized focusing on the secondary axis, enhancing the ability to detect minute defects on thin-walled pipes.

The COBRA scanner is also configured to inspect the welded joints of straight pipes and pipe fittings.

We can also supply wedges for TOFD inspections.

A25 Dual Crystal Linear Array (DLA) probe series is designed to detect austenitic materials that cannot be inspected using the A15 probe in the pulse echo mode.

Key Features
Standard straight tubes with an outer diameter ranging from 21mm to 114mm detectable
Inspection can be conducted in narrow spaces within 12mm of all standard straight pipes.
Up to two phased array probes can be installed on the scanner to cover the entire weld seam area in a single scan.
Scanners can be easily installed and operated from one side of the conduit.
After configuration, unilateral testing can be performed on the welding joints of straight pipes and fittings.
When preparing sweepers for inspecting standard pipeline specifications, the mechanical setup template in the standard configuration eliminates the need for using pipeline samples.
The scanner's design allows for a continuous and stable pressure application along the entire circumference of the pipe.
Polyurethane wheels facilitate smooth radial movement of the scanner within the pipeline and minimize axial displacement.
Encoder resolution is 32 steps/mm
Compact, lightweight, and portable
Quick and easy replacement of wedges and probes
The distance between probes is adjustable from 0 to 55 millimeters.
Spring-loaded scanner for detecting ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic pipelines
Waterproof, rustproof
