【Botanical Introduction】Ginger, a perennial herb, grows to a height of 50-80 cm. Its rhizome is thick and has a yellowish-white cross-section with a strong, pungent aroma. The leaves are alternate.

Live, arranged in two rows, leafless, several sheathing at the base; leaf sheath 2-4mm long; leaf blade lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 15-30cm long, 1.5-2.2cm wide, acuminate at the tip, narrow at the base, leaf sheath-like, embracing the stem, hairless. Flower scapes emerge from the rhizome, 15-25cm long; spike花序 elliptical, 4-5cm long; bracts ovate, about 2.5cm long, pale green, with a pale yellow margin, with a small pointed tip at the apex; calyx tube about 1cm long, with 3 short acute teeth; corolla yellow-green, tube 2-2.5cm long, 3 lobes, lanceolate, less than 2cm long, the middle lobe of the labellum obovate-ovoid, shorter than the corolla lobes, with purple stripes and pale yellow, lateral lobes ovate, yellow-green, with purple edges; stamen 1, dark purple, anther about 9mm long, the附属 body of the anther enveloping the style; ovary 3-chambered, hairless, style 1, stigma nearly spherical.
