The Current Status and Future Prospects of High Polymer Materials in Marine Applications Shen Yan, Liu Peihua Shanghai High Polymer Material Research and Development Center, Shanghai 200235 Abstract: High polymer materials, with their superior properties, have replaced some traditional materials in the civil shipbuilding field. This paper reviews the current applications of marine high polymer composites, functional high polymer materials for ships, and other high polymer materials used in shipbuilding. Civil ship materials tend to be robust, durable, stronger, and more comfortable and safe. The designability of high polymer materials meets the multifaceted needs of ship materials. It is predictable that high polymer materials will be applied more extensively in the shipbuilding industry.
