Currently, the majority of ship's stern bearings are replaced by white metal bearings lubricated with oil, instead of traditional water-lubricated bearings like iron plows and wood. These oil-lubricated bearings have a high load-bearing capacity of the oil film, excellent lubricating properties, and especially effective sealing devices that prevent seawater and sand from entering the stern tube, resulting in minimal wear. This ensures the main engine and shafting operate relatively smoothly and reliably.
