Description

1. Diesel generators do not require voltage regulators.

2. Modern diesel generators typically come equipped with an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) stabilizer inside the motor.

3. Ensures voltage stability during sudden load increases or decreases within the generator's rated power range. Therefore, a voltage stabilizer is not required. If a voltage regulator is not available, adding a stabilizer would be ineffective.

4. Furthermore, the use of super负荷 is only permissible for extremely short durations (1-3 minutes).

Section II: Daily Maintenance of Diesel Generators

  1. Starting Battery Maintenance

Due to the limited use of backup diesel generators, proper battery maintenance is crucial for ensuring their normal start-up. Neglecting the maintenance of the battery bank can lead to insufficient battery power, causing the generator to fail to start properly. This could result in the inability to automatically switch to the backup power source within 30 seconds, potentially leading to other accidents.

In the event of a high-floor fire, when the secondary water supply booster fails to start due to a lack of power, it results in insufficient water pressure and a lack of water, leading to an escalation of fire damage. Common scenarios include: there is voltage, but the current is insufficient to drive the shafts, preventing the start-up. Additionally, the battery pack experiences a lack of current, rendering it impossible to shut down the system.

The equipment must be equipped with a float charger that matches the voltage and phase levels to ensure normal charging and stopping of the charging equipment. Regularly check the liquid level of the starting battery pack and top up as needed to maintain the proper liquid level. Keep the battery pack clean. In case of a fault in the starting battery pack or for any other reason that prevents the normal operation of the standby power source, replace the battery pack promptly.

  2. Maintenance of the start-up solenoid valve

Regularly inspect the surface of the starting solenoid for oil stains and check if the contacts are eroded, ensuring the solenoid remains in good working condition. You can judge this by listening to the sound at startup; normally, after pressing the start button, the engine should start within 3 seconds, during which you should hear a "click, click" sound.

If no sound is heard, it indicates that the solenoid valve is damaged, and the generator cannot be started. Replacing the solenoid valve will allow the generator to start.

  3. Pay attention to the inspection of diesel and engine oil.

Due to the long-term idle standby status of the engine set, various materials within the set undergo complex chemical and physical changes with engine oil, coolant, diesel, and air, ultimately leading to rusting of the plunger in the high-pressure fuel pump, poor fuel supply to the engine set, and consequently, inability to start and operate normally. This ultimately results in the "deterioration" of the engine set.

Be mindful of the oil issues. Therefore, the backup emergency generator sets should be regularly maintained, inspected, and tested to ensure their optimal condition.

  4. Generator Maintenance and Care

The internal and external components of the generator should be cleaned regularly, with the frequency depending on the environment of the location. When cleaning is required, follow these steps: disconnect all power sources, wipe off all dust, dirt, oil stains, water, or any liquid from the surface, and ensure the ventilation grids are also thoroughly cleaned.

These items, when entering the coil, can cause overheating or damage the insulation. Dust and dirt should be removed using a vacuum cleaner; do not clean with blowing air or high-pressure water jets.

Diesel generator sets are typically located on the ground floor of residential buildings, where they are prone to dampness, which can lead to a decrease in insulation resistance. This necessitates regular starting tests and operating the generator for a certain period (depending on the extent of dampness) to dry it out. For drying methods and detailed maintenance procedures, refer to the included "Generator Operation and Maintenance Manual."

Generators are emergency equipment that can provide us with emergency power during power outages. However, they may also encounter some malfunctions during operation. Equipment malfunctions are an inevitable issue, but there are many things to pay attention to when repairing generators to ensure they can be used normally.

Generator repair refers to the mechanical equipment that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy, powered by turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines, or other power machinery. It converts the energy from water flow, air flow, fuel combustion, or nuclear fission into mechanical energy, which is then transmitted to the generator, and finally converted into electrical energy by the generator.

Generators (generator repairs) are widely used in industrial and agricultural production, national defense, science and technology, and daily life. There are many types of generators, but their working principles are all based on the law of electromagnetic induction and the law of electromagnetic force. Therefore, the general principles of their construction are: to form magnetic and electrical circuits that interact through electromagnetic induction using appropriate magnetic and conductive materials, in order to produce electromagnetic power and achieve the purpose of energy conversion.

    Generator Start-up Operation Requirements

Before starting the generator set, check the coolant level, lubricating oil level, and fuel level, and inspect for any leaks. If the oil or water levels are below the specified values, they should be topped up to the normal position.

2. Prior to starting the generator set, check for loose electrical connections, debris inside the electrical ball, and loose battery terminals.

Check if the fuel supply valve and coolant cutoff valve are in the open position.

4. Before operation or when performing maintenance and repair on the generator set, it is essential to read the detailed operating procedures.

5. When conducting any maintenance or repair, disconnect the AC and DC power supplies and external power sources.

6. When performing any maintenance or repairs, first disconnect the battery and the on-site load.

When handling fuel, oil, batteries, and electrolytes, take necessary protective measures to safeguard your skin and eyes.

8. All protective facilities must be in place and properly assembled for the generator set to operate normally.

9. Ensure the generator set and load are properly grounded.

10. The load on the unit and at the site is operated by qualified personnel, adhering to safety operating procedures. After the unit is started, check for any leaks or abnormal noises, ensuring normal operation before closing the switch and supplying power. Check all indicator instruments at the specified intervals, pay attention to the lubricant pressure and water temperature changes; the lubricating oil pressure must not be below 150KPa, and the cooling water temperature must not exceed 95℃. Before the unit is shut down, ensure that all loads are fully removed.
