Description

1. Diesel generators do not require voltage regulators. 2. Modern diesel generators typically come equipped with an AVR automatic voltage regulator to stabilize the voltage within the motor. 3. They ensure voltage stability during sudden load increases or decreases within the generator's rated power range, eliminating the need for an additional voltage regulator. Without a voltage regulator, it is ineffective. 4. Overload usage during operation should only occur for a very short duration (1-3 minutes) and is not permitted for extended periods. Diesel Generator Daily Maintenance 1. Maintenance of the Starting Battery Due to the infrequent use of backup diesel generator power, the maintenance of the battery is crucial for the generator to start normally. Neglecting the battery maintenance can lead to insufficient battery power, preventing the generator from starting, and failing to activate the backup power within 30 seconds, potentially causing other accidents. In cases of high-rise fires, if the secondary water supply pump fails to start due to lack of power, it can lead to insufficient water pressure and cause the fire to spread. Common issues include having voltage but insufficient current to drive the shaft, preventing the generator from starting. Simultaneously, the battery may experience insufficient current, making it impossible to shut down. It is required to equip voltage-matching float charging devices to ensure normal charging and stopping. Regularly check and replenish the battery fluid level as needed to maintain proper levels. Keep the battery clean. Replace the battery immediately if the starting battery fails or cannot start or stop the backup power due to other reasons. 2. Maintenance of the Starting Solenoid Regularly inspect the starting solenoid for oil stains and burn marks on the contacts to maintain optimal operation. The solenoid's condition can be assessed by listening to the sound during startup. Normally, after pressing the start button, the solenoid should start within 3 seconds, during which a "click, click" sound can be heard. If no sound is heard, it indicates a damaged solenoid, preventing the generator from starting. Replacing the solenoid will allow the generator to start. 3. Pay attention to the inspection of diesel and engine oil Since the unit is in a static standby state for a long time, various materials in the unit will undergo complex chemical and physical changes with oil, coolant, diesel, and air, ultimately causing the plunger in the high-pressure fuel pump to rust, poor fuel supply to the unit, and inability to start normally. This can damage the unit. Therefore, attention should be paid to oil issues. Backup emergency generator sets should be regularly maintained and tested to ensure the unit's good condition. 4. Generator Maintenance The internal and external parts of the AC generator should be cleaned regularly, with the frequency depending on the environment of the unit. When cleaning is needed, follow these steps: disconnect all power sources, remove all dust, dirt, oil, water, or any liquid from the surface, and clean the ventilation grids thoroughly. These substances can enter the coils, causing overheating or damaging the insulation. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and dirt; do not use blowing or high-pressure water spray for cleaning. Diesel generator sets are often placed on the ground floor of residential buildings, which are prone to dampness, causing a decrease in insulation resistance. It is required to conduct regular startup tests and run the generator for a certain period (depending on the degree of dampness) to dry the generator. Refer to the "Generator Operation and Maintenance Manual" for drying methods and detailed maintenance procedures. Generators are emergency equipment that provides emergency power during power outages. However, generators may also experience some malfunctions during use. Equipment malfunctions are an unavoidable issue, but there are many things to pay attention to during generator maintenance to ensure normal operation. Generator repair refers to the mechanical equipment that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy. It is driven by a turbine, steam turbine, diesel engine, or other power mechanical devices to convert the energy of water flow, gas flow, fuel combustion, or nuclear fission into mechanical energy, which is then converted into electrical energy by the generator. Generators (generator repair) are widely used in industrial and agricultural production, national defense, science and technology, and daily life. There are many types of generators, but their working principles are all based on the law of electromagnetic induction and the law of electromagnetic force. Therefore, the general principle of their structure is to use appropriate magnetic and conductive materials to form magnetic and electrical circuits that interact with each other to produce electromagnetic power and achieve the purpose of energy conversion. Generator startup operation requirements: 1. Before starting the generator set, check the coolant level, lubricating oil level, and fuel level, and check for leaks. If the oil level or water level is below the specified value, it should be supplemented to the normal position. 2. Before starting the generator set, check for loose electrical wiring, debris in the ballast, and loose battery terminals. 3. Check if the fuel supply valve and the cooling water cutoff valve are in the open position. 4. Before operation or during generator set maintenance and repair, read the detailed operation procedures. 5. When performing any maintenance or repair, disconnect AC, DC, and external power sources. 6. When performing any maintenance or repair, first disconnect the battery and the on-site load. 7. When handling fuel, engine oil, batteries, and electrolytes, take necessary protective measures to protect the skin and eyes. 8. All protective equipment must be in place and properly assembled for the generator set to operate normally. 9. Ensure that the generator set and load are properly grounded. 10. The generator set and on-site load should be operated by qualified personnel and comply with safety operation regulations. After the generator set is started, check for leaks and abnormal sounds, and ensure normal operation before closing the circuit and supplying power. Check the indicators according to the specified time, pay attention to the oil pressure and water temperature changes, and ensure that the lubricating oil pressure is not below 150KPa and the cooling water temperature is not above 95℃ before shutting down the generator set.
