Heavy calcium carbonate, also known as heavy calcium, is a white powder made from limestone processed through a lime mill. Its main component is CaCO3. Heavy calcium boasts high brightness, good purity, soft color, and stable chemical composition. It is commonly used as a filler in various industries, such as artificial tiles, rubber, plastics, papermaking, coatings, paints, inks, cables, construction materials, food, textiles, feed, and toothpaste, to increase product volume and reduce production costs. In rubber applications, it can enhance rubber volume, improve workability, serve as a semi-reinforcement or reinforcement, and adjust the hardness of rubber.
Application Points of Heavy Calcium Powder:
Due to its lower specific surface area and oil absorption, it is easier to mix with resins.
② Less volume and higher density of filling material at the same filling amount.
③Different raw materials have varying types and contents of impurities, resulting in inconsistent color in the finished products. Lightweight calcium carbonate, however, is adaptable due to its ability to control particle crystal shape according to different application requirements; it can increase the volume of the product with the same amount of filling due to its large settling volume or low bulk density; the color difference of the product is even due to fewer impurities; the mechanical properties of the filling material are better with a smaller particle size under the same amount of filling; but due to its larger specific surface area and oil absorption value, it presents more resistance (harder to mix) when mixed with resins.
