Seam Tape
Product Description:
Seam tape is a road sealing material made by bonding a 2.0mm thick high molecular polymer between two isolation films through special processing. The product consists of four layers. When the crack shape is irregular and complex, it severely affects the road's aesthetics and waterproofing performance. At this point, the seam tape showcases its unique advantage, allowing direct application on the road surface, eliminating the drawbacks of past methods like slotting and filling, and preventing secondary damage to the road.
Product Features:
1. Easy Installation — Peel and Stick. Simply clean the road surface and lay the surface joint tape for road use; it eliminates the need for traditional cutting and heating equipment for asphalt crack filling.
2. No cracking at large temperature differences in winter; effectively prevents water intrusion — achieves effective water sealing to prevent phenomena such as loose areas, frayed edges, cracked seams, and the formation of pits.
3. Flexible bending for quick installation—several times faster than traditional sealing. With the ease of bending, the operation of the joint tape significantly enhances efficiency compared to conventional crack repair methods. Using imported equipment, an average worker can seal about 500 meters per workday, whereas with joint tape, each person can complete approximately 800 meters.
4. Reliable Quality - Aesthetically pleasing and durable. The asphalt crack sealant is used for road repairs, ensuring it remains shape-retentive and crack-free for up to 3-4 years without being picked up by vehicle tires. The sealant's design with thin edges and a thick center allows for maximum compression into the cracks, guaranteeing a smooth road surface. Its soft elasticity ensures vehicles can travel at high speeds without bouncing or noise.
5. Low cost – significant benefits. No need for filling equipment and expensive imported sealants.
Utilization performance:
To alleviate the financial and human resources burden of road maintenance and promote a more people-oriented approach, we recommend a new type of crack treatment material: crack sealer tape (also known as joint sealer tape). Applying the tape to road cracks requires no trenching or equipment investment and can be directly粘贴 on the crack surface. The construction process is convenient and quick. Once the method is mastered, each person can handle approximately 1,000 meters of cracks per day.
Surface cracks in asphalt pavements or reflective cracks from subgrade, as well as joint repairs and maintenance for cement concrete pavements, have long been a challenging issue for many maintenance units. Even with the use of expensive foreign sealant materials, the durability of the products does not meet satisfactory results. In recent years, our company's professionally produced self-adhesive crack tape has achieved good results.
Replace traditional asphalt crack filling with self-adhesive seam tape. Treating asphalt pavement cracks is a significant improvement in current highway maintenance technology. Traditional methods are limited by the low-temperature brittleness and high-temperature softening of asphalt materials, causing repaired cracks to re-open after a year due to surface expansion and contraction with temperature changes. This issue increases the workload and material costs for road maintenance, while self-adhesive seam tape overcomes the defects of traditional asphalt materials in terms of material properties.
Construction Process:
Traffic closure for personnel safety - Crack cleaning - Seam tape bonding - Hand compaction - Traffic clearance
1. Simple closed traffic; primarily to ensure personnel safety. After the seam tape is laid and compacted, traffic can resume directly.
2. Clean cracks by using a brush or a blower to clear the road cracks and the surrounding 20cm area. For severely damaged sections, use a grinder to sand down the crack area to ensure bonding effectiveness.
3. Bond with seam tape: Select the appropriate seam tape size, peel off the release paper, and apply it along the crack direction. Hold the seam tape with one hand while using your thumb and forefinger of the other hand to gently press it onto the crack with a slight force. Ensure that the excess width of the seam tape on both sides of the crack is consistent. For longer cracks, hold one end of the seam tape with one hand and pull the release paper with the other, then step on it to ensure the crack is completely sealed, preventing water seepage.
4. Manually compact by foot stepping or using a roller for repeated flattening.
5. Traffic release: Once the seam tape is properly applied and compacted, traffic is immediately reopened. The passing vehicles' tires will firmly adhere the seam tape to the road surface.
