Drainage and water retention board

Product Introduction:


A lightweight panel formed by heating and pressing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) to create a drainage channel with both structural rigidity for creating a certain spatial support and water retention capacity. It simultaneously serves multiple functions including water retention, drainage, breathability, moisture retention, insulation, and protection against plant root damage to concrete structures. This panel inherently combines water retention and drainage functions, featuring high spatial rigidity and superior compressive strength over comparable products, capable of withstanding over 400Kpa of compressive loads, as well as extreme loads during the backfilling process of the planting top. When used in conjunction with geotextile, it prevents fine particles from clogging the water storage and drainage channels, ensuring unobstructed drainage and airflow, and is widely applied in landscaping engineering.

Construction Precautions:

When used in garden ponds, flower beds, and planters, directly replace conventional materials (such as filter layers composed of expanded clay, pebbles, or shells) with water-retaining boards and filter geotextiles.

2. For hard surface greening on new or old roofs, underground construction lids, etc., prior to laying drainage boards, clean the site of debris. Set up a waterproofing layer as per design drawings, then slope the surface with cement mortar to ensure no visible unevenness. Arrange the drainage boards in order, and no additional drainage sumps need to be set within the laying area.

3. When used for constructing interlayer boards in buildings, the water-retaining and drainage board is laid on the roof concrete slab, with an additional single wall built around it or protected with concrete. This allows groundwater to flow through the void space of the drainage board into the blind trench to collect in the sump.

4. The perimeter drainage boards are interconnected. The gaps during installation serve as the lower drainage channel. The geotextile filter and moisture-retaining layer on top must also be properly overlapped.

5. After the drainage board is laid, proceed with the next step promptly. Ensure the filter geotextile and substrate layer are laid to prevent soil, cement, or yellow sand from clogging the channels or entering the water storage, water channels, or drainage pathways of the drainage board. To maximize the board's effectiveness, lay an operation board on top of the filter geotextile for ease of landscaping work.

 

Construction Laying Method:

After the waterproofing layer and its protective layer are completed, start laying the drainage board. The subgrade drainage slope should be no less than 2‰ to 5‰.

2. Lay the drainage board with the cup-shaped mouth facing up, interlocking the teeth.

3. The geotextile is laid over the drainage board, with overlaps of 10~20cm to prevent mud and water from penetrating through, clogging the drainage and water storage system, and causing poor drainage and reduced storage capacity.

4. Lay 10~20mm of medium-grained sand over the geotextile to form a permeable filter layer, which can prevent the loss of planting soil.

5. Cover with an appropriate thickness of planting soil.

6. Ensure the protection of the finished drainage boards. After installation, it is not allowed to push carts directly on the drainage boards. When transporting materials, lay wooden planks or pathways. Practice filling soil as the boards are laid.
