Electric steel poles are made of polygonal steel tubes, round steel tubes, etc., and are coated with hot-dipped galvanized or hot-sprayed zinc (and zinc alloy) for corrosion protection. They are mainly used for electric line installation and serve as alternative products to traditional concrete poles.
Advantages of Electric Steel Poles:
1) Electric steel poles have a small footprint. A small footprint is a major advantage of steel poles, as traditional transmission towers and guyed towers both have the drawback of occupying a large area. However, under the current market economic conditions, land prices continue to rise, making it increasingly difficult to allocate land for transmission, with increasing investments. Moreover, in some special areas like city centers, it is impossible to build towers. This is where steel poles become an excellent choice for transmission construction. Steel poles have a small footprint, typically about 1/3 of that of self-supporting towers, and their top dimensions are also much smaller, requiring a narrower aerial line corridor. Therefore, steel poles generally meet various environmental requirements and save on land costs. 2) Aesthetically pleasing design. This is another major advantage of steel poles. In the current wave of urban construction and transformation, the aesthetics and livability of cities are increasingly being focused on by residents. As a result, the demand for aesthetic requirements in urban construction is rising, especially for urban landscape roads where the standards are even stricter. Traditional towers struggle to meet these requirements, but steel poles, due to their compact structure and attractive, small appearance, can generally satisfy aesthetic demands. 3) Simple and quick construction. Establishing traditional towers requires a tower assembly process, whether it's a complete assembly or a segmented one, the construction period is roughly the same. In contrast, steel pole construction generally does not require assembly, just install the steel pole cross arm and then assemble the whole structure. The construction speed is much faster than that of towers. Typically, a construction team can assemble 1.5 to 2 towers a day, but can install about 10 steel poles in a day. Therefore, using steel poles can greatly improve construction efficiency and shorten the construction period. 4) Steel poles are less prone to theft. The loss of tower materials has always been a major issue affecting the safe operation of towers, despite certain preventive measures like installing anti-theft bolts below 6 meters. However, the loss of materials still occurs occasionally. Steel poles, being assembled through overall insertion or flange connection, essentially eliminate the loss of components, reduce potential accidents, and improve the health of the transmission lines. Electric steel poles also have the advantages of a short production cycle and the ability to withstand high stresses, among others.
