Power steel poles are made from polygonal steel pipes, round steel pipes, etc., and are coated with anti-corrosion treatment using hot-dip galvanizing or hot spray zinc (and zinc alloys). Mainly used for electric power line construction. They are alternative products to traditional concrete poles.
Advantages of Power Steel Poles:
1) Electric steel poles occupy less land. Less land occupation is a major advantage of steel poles, as traditional transmission towers and guyed towers all suffer from the drawback of large land use. However, under the current market economic conditions, land prices keep rising, making it increasingly difficult to allocate land for transmission, leading to higher investments. Moreover, in some special areas, such as city center zones, there is simply no condition to build transmission towers. This is where steel poles become an excellent choice for transmission construction. Steel poles occupy less land, typically about 1/3 of the area required for self-supporting towers, and their top dimensions are also significantly smaller than those of towers, which reduces the required aerial corridor. Therefore, steel poles generally meet various environmental requirements and save on land costs. 2) Aesthetically pleasing design. This is another major advantage of steel poles. In the current wave of urban construction and transformation, the aesthetics and livability of cities are increasingly important to residents. Thus, the requirements for power line construction in urban development are getting higher, including the aesthetic aspect, especially for cityscape roads where the requirements are stricter. Traditional towers struggle to meet these aesthetic demands, but steel poles, with their compact structure and visually appealing, small-scale design, can largely satisfy these requirements. 3) Easy and quick construction. The construction of traditional towers requires a tower assembly process, whether it's a complete assembly or a segmented one, the timeline is roughly the same. In contrast, steel pole construction does not require such a process; it only involves installing the steel pole crossarm and then assembling the pole in one go. This construction method is much faster than that of towers. Typically, a construction crew can set up 1.5 to 2 towers a day, but can install about 10 steel poles in a day, significantly improving construction efficiency and shortening the timeline. 4) Steel poles are less prone to theft. The loss of tower materials has always been a major issue affecting the safe operation of towers, despite certain preventive measures like installing anti-theft bolts below 6 meters. However, the issue of material loss still occurs occasionally. Since steel poles are assembled from integral inserts or flange connections, they largely eliminate the loss of components, reduce the risk of accidents, and improve the line quality. In addition to the above advantages, electric steel poles also have the benefits of a short production cycle and the ability to withstand high stresses.
