The Gaoyuan "Gongmian" noodles have been famous since the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty and during the Ming and Qing dynasties. As early as the early 18th century, the county government selected this type of dried noodles to offer to the imperial court, hence the name "Gongmian." Made entirely by traditional hand-pulling and natural drying processes, these noodles feature a hole in the middle, also known as "hollow noodles." The product is made primarily from high-quality wheat flour, refined vegetable oil, and refined salt. It is produced through 15 steps of pulling. The noodles are thin as silk, hollow as bamboo, easy to cook without becoming mushy, not easily falling apart when reboiled, soft and crisp, and rich in nutrients.
