The plastic annular packing, introduced by Teller A. J. of the United States in 1954, is commonly known as the Taylor annular packing domestically. It is composed of many circular rings and has now become a serialized product with three models. The main features of this packing are its high porosity, resistance to clogging, high flow rate, and low resistance. Due to the high liquid retention capacity at the gaps of this packing, it allows for a longer liquid residence time inside the tower, thereby increasing the contact time between gas and liquid, enhancing efficiency. Consequently, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry first researched and introduced the plastic annular packing from the American packing company, establishing it as the recommended packing for the metallurgical industry.
