The working principle of the stainless steel distillation tower

The stainless steel distillation tower is a device used for separating liquid mixtures, commonly made of stainless steel, known for its excellent corrosion and high-temperature resistance. It is applied in industries such as chemical, petrochemical, metallurgy, light industry, textiles, alkali production, pesticides, electroplating, and electronics.

The working principle of the stainless steel distillation tower primarily relies on the differences in boiling points of substances. During the distillation process, the mixed product is first heated to boiling, producing steam. This steam then enters the tower, where, due to changes in temperature and pressure at different heights, components with varying boiling points condense sequentially and return to the top of the tower. As a result, lighter components rise to the top, while heavier ones remain at the bottom. To ensure the continuous operation of the distillation process, a cold condensate is typically introduced, flowing from the top into the tower to exchange heat with the rising steam, causing the steam to condense into liquid while the condensate itself gets heated. Through continuous heating and condensation, the various components of the mixed product can be separated.

Control of stainless steel distillation towers typically employs a hierarchical approach, divided into three layers. The lowest layer manages parameters such as liquid level, input feed, enthalpy, and pressure. The middle layer controls the composition of the distillate output. The top layer focuses on optimization. During the distillation process, energy must be replenished to offset the energy consumed in separating components and reducing entropy.

The stainless steel distillation tower, due to its excellent performance and wide application, has become one of the indispensable key equipment in chemical production.
