Introduction to EU2019/2020 Testing Standards for Lighting ERP New Regulations

The ErP certification is a requirement under the EU's CE marking directive, known as the ErP directive, which is a new European CE marking regulation. As a CE marking directive, the ErP directive now mandates that it be enforced alongside other requirements such as the LVD directive, EMC directive, and RoHS directive. Therefore, products subject to these implementation measures must consider the requirements of the ErP directive before being exported to Europe to affix the CE mark.
The European Commission established the official version of the Eco-Design Directive for Light Sources and Independent Control Gear (EU) 2019/2020 on October 1, 2019, which was officially released on December 5, 2019, and will be enforced and废除 the original regulations (EC) 244/2009, (EC) 245/2009, and (EU) 1194/2012 on September 1, 2021, implementing the ErP Directive (2009/125/EC). The directive sets specific limit values, including energy efficiency requirements, functional requirements, and information requirements.
The new ErP Directive EU 2019/2020 specifies the eco-design requirements for the following products:
Light Source:
2. Detachable light source control device
These requirements also apply to light sources and separate light source control devices in composite products sold on the market (e.g., lighting fixtures).
Key differences between the new ErP EU 2019/2020 directive and the previous version:
Scope expanded to include products with lighting, such as household appliances and furniture.
Energy efficiency calculation switched back to Ponmax, added factors for color rendering index, raised energy efficiency requirements; added flicker test: SVM, Pst LM.
Increase power consumption requirements for network control and network standby.
Increased requirements for driver energy conversion efficiency.
Cycle test, startup time, and preheat time tests have been removed; number of test samples: only 10 for the light source, and only 3 for the driver.
Durable testing for 3,600 hours, with 3,000 hours of lighting time, significantly reducing the testing duration while drastically increasing the requirement for lumen maintenance rate.
Major differences between the new Energy Label EU 2019/2015 directive and the old directive:
The calculation of energy efficiency rating has been changed from EEI index to nTM (Im/W), making it more intuitive.
2. The energy efficiency classification is now from Class A to Class G.
3. Higher energy efficiency requirements, such as the previous Class A++ now only corresponds to Class E.
