Single-phase appliances have a rated voltage not exceeding 250V, while other appliances have a rated voltage not exceeding 480V. Battery-powered equipment and other DC power supply equipment are within the scope of this standard. Equipment unsuitable for general household use but potentially hazardous to the public, such as appliances used by novices in stores, light industry, and farms, are also included. Examples of such appliances are catering equipment, commercial cleaning tools, and barbering tools.

Compared to the fourth edition, the main changes in this version are as follows:

a. Update the standard text to align with the outdated normative references of the version.

b. Modify functional safety requirements using programmable electronic circuits, including software verification requirements.

c. Updated Article 29, covering insulation requirements for high-frequency voltage withstand in switch-mode power supply circuits.

d. Updated Section 30.2 to further align the preselection options with the final product testing options.

e. Removed some comments and converted many other comments into standard text.

Please draw the attention of all national committees to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing bodies may require a transition period after the publication of new, revised, or revised IEC publications to manufacture products in accordance with new requirements and equip their new products, or revise tests. The committee recommends that the content of this publication be implemented nationwide no later than 12 months or no later than 36 months from the date of publication. This copy includes corrections from July 2010, April 2011, January 2014, and April 2014.

This standard is for the safety regulations of household kitchen mechanical and electrical appliances. It adds testing requirements for noodle machines with kneading function. It revises the definition of normal operating mode. It revises the normal temperature rise testing methods (11.7.1 standard load, standard test cycle time; 11.7.2 instruction manual load, standard test cycle time; 11.7.3 rated power, standard specified test time). It revises the mechanical protection requirements for feeding screw or screw rotation.

  (6)IEC 60335-2-15: /AMD1: 2016

This standard is for the safety regulations of domestic liquid heaters, with the scope of the product extended to include multiple functions. The definition of the normal operating mode of coffee machines has been revised, and the instruction manual requirements have been updated: additional warning statements for embedded use, glass ceramics, and children's use are included. The introduction covers the testing methods for the power and current of automatic coffee machines, revising the normal temperature rise testing methods, adding waterproof testing, revising abnormal testing conditions for electric kettles, abnormal coverage testing for products with thermal insulation panels, abnormal testing for coffee pots with decorative door panels, abnormal testing for automatic coffee machines, revising pressure testing, and requirements for the structure of the frothing or hot water nozzle.

  (7)IEC 60335-2-23: 2016

This standard is for safety regulations of electrical appliances for skin and hair care. It adds warning instructions for use in bathrooms and similar areas, enhances warnings for straighteners and curling irons, states that the surface temperature of removable hair curlers does not require evaluation, changes the drop test method for handheld products, requires the grip position on handle design to be clearly visible, and mandates that hair dryers must have a protective grill to prevent hair from being吸入, and fixed air-drying handsets require a non-resettable protector.
