FSC Forest Certification Overview:
FSC certification, also known as wood certification, is a tool that utilizes market mechanisms to promote sustainable forest management and achieve ecological, social, and economic goals. FSC forest certification includes Forest Management (FM) and Chain of Custody (COC) certifications. Forest management certification, also referred to as forest sustainable management certification or simply FSC forest certification, is a process by which an independent third-party FSC forest certification body reviews the performance of forest management units against established forest management standards, following recognized principles and criteria, to demonstrate their compliance with sustainable management requirements. Chain of Custody certification verifies all production stages of wood processing enterprises, from raw material transport and processing to distribution, ensuring that the final product originates from well-managed, certified forests. Upon certification, the company is entitled to label its products with the certification system's name and logo, known as the forest product certification label.
