Laboratory Benchtop Fume Hoods, also known as desk-top fume hoods or desktop fume hoods, are compact local exhaust ventilation units designed to be placed directly on laboratory benchtops. They are primarily used for small-scale experiments or sample processing and can quickly remove small amounts of toxic, harmful gases, dust, or volatile substances generated during experiments, protecting the health of laboratory personnel. They are particularly suitable for limited-space laboratories or small research institutions.
I. Core Structure and Material
The bench-top fume hood, with its compact size, emphasizes "small yet practical" design, focusing on core components and materials that prioritize "corrosion resistance, lightweight, and ease of operation."
Cabinet frame: Primarily made of two mainstream materials
All PP Material: Entirely constructed from polypropylene (PP) sheets, resistant to strong acids and alkalis, and corrosion-proof against organic solvents, suitable for chemical experiments (such as acid-base titration, sample digestion).
Steelwood/Full Steel Material: Steel frame part is 1.0-1.2mm cold-rolled steel plate (epoxy resin coated for rust prevention), wooden part is moisture-proof melamine board, suitable for non-aggressive corrosion environments (such as biological sample processing, room temperature experiments).
Counter Surface: Matches cabinet material, two common options available
Chemical Laboratory Preferred - Solid Core Laboratory Boards / PP Countertops (resistant to acids and alkalis, waterproof, suitable for direct contact with reagents)
Standard Experimental Options - Stainless Steel Countertop (wear-resistant, easy to clean, suitable for light operations).

Windows and Ventilation Systems
Window: Typically made of 5-6mm thick tempered safety glass, featuring a "push-pull" design (can stop at any height, convenient for hand insertion and operation), some models include a "hand-protection" cushioning structure.
Air Exhaust Module: Equipped with a small corrosion-resistant fan on top (PP fan or PVC fan, noise ≤60dB), paired with a 100-150mm diameter exhaust duct (can be connected to the lab's general exhaust system or directly排出 through a wall hole to the outside).
Lining / Diverter Plate: One-piece molded with PP material, seamless design (to prevent gas residue). Some models are equipped with "diversion channels" to ensure complete exhaust of harmful gases.
Accessories
Control Panel: Simple touch screen or rotary (controls fan on/off, lighting), some models with "Airflow Indicator Light" (indicating proper exhaust function).
Lighting: Built-in 10-15W explosion-proof LED lamp (illuminance ≥300LX, not in contact with air flow to avoid contamination of samples).
Compact Storage Cabinets: Some models come with 1-2 drawers/trays at the bottom (suitable for storing lab tools, reagent bottles, and saving desk space).
