Aluminum mold operations are often used in medical equipment, where they are prone to contact with chemicals during use. Therefore, surface treatment of aluminum molds is necessary to address corrosion and wear resistance. DLC diamond-like carbon coatings offer stable chemical properties, and are also known as diamond-like coatings. They possess high hardness (>HV2200) and low dry friction coefficients (0.05-0.1), making them a corrosion and wear-resistant coating. The thickness of the DLC coating can reach 0.55 micrometers, and after application, the surface is smooth and aesthetically pleasing, which is why they are favored by many aluminum mold manufacturers.
