Water-soluble quenching agent working principle
DR-5520 is a water-soluble quenching medium belonging to the salt class, which is completely soluble in water. It causes the steam film around the workpiece to break rapidly, shortening the steam film cooling stage and increasing the characteristic temperature. Therefore, compared to tap water, DR-5520's water-soluble quenching medium offers a deeper hardening layer, improves cooling uniformity, prevents the formation of soft spots, and reduces the risk of cracking and deformation.

Quenching Agent Usage Guidelines and Maintenance Management
Ideal solution usage temperature is 20-40°C, not exceeding 55°C. To ensure product quality stability, it is recommended to control the quenching temperature within a narrow range. The temperature rise before and after the liquid quenching should generally not exceed 10°C. It is advisable to equip with a complete cooling cycle heat dissipation system. If the room temperature is too low in winter, consider heating the quenching liquid or appropriately increasing the concentration before quenching.
To achieve as consistent quenching cooling effects as possible, the槽液 should be continuously agitated. Pump circulation, propeller stirring, and nozzles can all be used, with the choice depending on the specific conditions on-site.
Quenching Agent Cooling Characteristics
Cooling characteristics are a crucial property of quenching oil. The cooling performance of heat treatment quenching oil affects the quality of quenched parts. Good cooling properties ensure that the parts have certain hardness and qualified microstructure after quenching, and can prevent deformation and cracking of the parts.
Currently, our country has three parallel standard methods for testing the cooling performance of quenching oils, namely, the Mechanical Industry Standard JB/T7951, the International Standard ISO9950, and the Petrochemical Industry Standard SH/T0220.
China revised the original JB/T7951 standard in 2004 (JB/T7951:1995 was based on the silver probe method), and the newly revised JB/T7951:2004 standard has equivalently adopted the ISO9950:1995 international standard.
Nantong Derun Industrial Medium Technology Co., Ltd. currently adopts the ISO9550 standard and utilizes an imported Smart Quench 2 type IVF cold rate meter.
The cooling characteristic curve can directly reflect the cooling properties of quenching oil, effectively monitoring performance changes during the use of quenching agents. However, it is merely a testing method for analyzing the properties of quenching oil and does not reflect the actual cooling capacity under real operating conditions. Furthermore, it cannot be directly overlaid on the C curve of the workpiece material for analysis.
Packaging and Storage
Water-soluble quenching agent products, upon factory inspection approval, should be used within twelve months.
If not used within the deadline, it can only be utilized after the pending indicator has been qualified.
DR-5520 Water-Soluble Quenching Agent is available in 200-liter iron drums or 20-liter plastic drums, for indoor storage (temperature 5-40°C).
