YJVC Series Copper Clad Aluminum Cable Product Introduction

YJVC Copper-clad Aluminum Cable (insulated power cable with copper-clad aluminum conductor) boasts excellent corrosion resistance and low contact resistance of the conductor. Normally, aluminum is more prone to corrosion than copper, but due to the aluminum in the copper-clad aluminum being fully enveloped by copper, it improves the weaknesses of aluminum conductors, such as easy oxidation and high contact resistance. It is lightweight, flexible, easy to process, convenient for installation and transportation. The copper-clad aluminum material offers the advantages of relatively low cost and stable pricing, overcoming the drawbacks of high cost and fluctuating prices of copper materials.

1. Product Application Range

Rated 450/750V and below polyvinyl chloride insulated cables and power cables of 35kV and below are suitable for fixed installations of lighting and electrical power equipment with rated alternating voltages of 450/750V and below, as well as for power transmission and distribution systems of 35kV and below. They are used for power transmission and distribution. Widely applied in power, construction, industrial and mining, metallurgy, petrochemical, transportation, and other departments.

2. Product Features

Excellent corrosion resistance and low contact resistance. Normally, aluminum is more susceptible to corrosion than copper, but due to the aluminum being fully encapsulated by copper in copper-clad aluminum, it improves the weaknesses of aluminum conductors, such as easy oxidation and high contact resistance.

7. Working Characteristics of Wires/Electric Power Cables

Rated voltage U0/U: 300/300V, 300/500V, 450/750V, 0.6/1kV, 3.6/6kV, 6/6kV, 6/10kV, 8.7/10kV, 8.7/15kV.
2. Long-term allowable high operating temperature for conductors: 90℃ for XLPE insulation, 70℃ for PVC insulation.
3. Conductor cross-sectional area and DC resistance meet the requirements of Q/HYGK006-2018 "Copper-clad Aluminum Conductor Insulated Power Cables with Rated Voltage from 1kV (Um=1.2kV) to 3kV (Um=3.6kV)."
4. Pressure Resistance Level

4.1 Fabric Wires
At U0/U of 300/300V: Not punctured at 2000V/5min.

At 300/500V U0/U: No breakdown at 2000V/5min.

At 450/750V U0/U: Not punctured at 2500V/5min.
4.2 Power Cable
Cable with U0/U voltage of 3.6kV and below: Not punctured after 2.5U0 + 2kV for 5 minutes.

3.6kV~18kV U0/U cable: 3.5U0/5min non-breakdown.
5. Partial Discharge Test:
Cable partial discharge not exceeding 10pC under 1.73U0.


8. Terminal Block

Copper-core power cables with termination connectors, manufactured in accordance with the GB14315-93 standard for "Compression-type copper and aluminum termination connectors and connecting tubes for power cable conductors."

9. Wiring Precautions

Use copper wire terminals when making connections; do not use aluminum terminals or aluminum-copper transition terminals. When twisting and looping the connections onto the load equipment, avoid using sharp tools to prevent damaging the copper layer on the conductor surface. Do not repeat the twisting and looping process more than three times consecutively to prevent the single strands of the conductor from breaking.
After copper wire terminals are crimped to conductors, it is standard practice to solder (tin) them again to ensure a tight and secure connection between the conductor and the terminal. When using non-sealed terminals, the terminal ends should also be sealed with soldered welding.
For intermediate conductor connections, use copper connecting tubes, and seal the ends with solder after crimping (soldering).

10. Cable Selection Considerations

When selecting cables, we adopt internationally advanced concepts, using polyethylene sheath material for the jacket. All its physical and electrical performance indicators are superior to polyvinyl chloride, except for applications requiring flame retardancy, halogen-free, and low smoke.
(2) For cables with a cross-sectional area of 70mm² or more, single-core cables are used to enhance the cable's current carrying capacity and reduce the AC resistance during industrial frequency operation.
(3) Copper-clad aluminum conductor cables with conductor outer diameters under 95mm generally have a nominal cross-sectional area one size larger than that of copper conductor cables with a larger outer diameter. For cables with cross-sectional areas of 120mm² and above, please match the actual cable conductor outer diameter with copper termination connectors.

11. Packaging, Transportation, and Storage

The packaging of finished cables should comply with the relevant provisions of JB/T8137-1999 "Cable Delivery Pallets."
(2) Absolutely no collision between cable drums is allowed during transportation to prevent mechanical damage.
(3) When storing cables, ensure the ends are securely sealed. Do not lay cables flat during transportation or storage on reels.

(4) Prevent moisture and humidity from seeping into the cable.
(5) Prevent high temperatures and direct sunlight exposure.
(6) A product certification should be attached to each cable coil or spool.
(7) Cables should be coiled neatly per spool or reel, and packaging should be done with care.
