Advantages of the YPT Variable Frequency Motor: In addition to the known wide frequency range and energy-saving features, the motor effectively limits the starting current. This means that by using a variable frequency drive, the frequency and voltage are correspondingly increased as the motor accelerates, keeping the starting current below 150% of the rated current (varies from 125% to 200% depending on the model). When started directly with a standard power supply, the starting current can reach 6 to 7 times the rated current, thus causing mechanical and electrical shocks. Using a variable frequency drive allows for a smooth start (with an extended start-up time). The starting current is 1.2 to 1.5 times the rated current, and the starting torque is 70% to 120% of the rated torque; for drives with torque boost functionality, the starting torque is above this, enabling full load start-up.
