Explosion-proof motor, non-sparking type
An electric motor that, under normal operating conditions, will not ignite any surrounding explosive mixtures and generally does not experience ignition faults. Compared to explosion-proof motors, it has the same design requirements as explosion-proof motors in all aspects except that it does not have specified requirements for insulation dielectric strength test voltage, winding temperature rise, te (the time from the start of the starting current to reaching the ultimate temperature of the AC winding after reaching the rated operating final temperature under ambient temperature), and the starting current ratio as those of explosion-proof motors.
The flameless motor conforms to the regulations of GB3836.1-83 and GB3836.8-87 "Flameproof electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres - Type 'n' electrical equipment for flameproof electrical equipment" used in explosive environments. The design emphasizes the motor's sealing measures, with the main housing having a protection grade of IP/IP55, and the junction box is IP55. For motors with a rated voltage above 660V, the connecting parts of the space heater or other devices should be placed inside a single junction box.
YW series explosion-proof motors (with shaft center height of 80~315) have been developed and produced domestically. They are marked with nIIT3 for explosion-proof and are suitable for Zone 2 areas in factories where flammable gases or vapors of temperature groups T1—T3 mix with air to form explosive mixtures. The rated frequency is 50Hz, and the rated voltages are 220, 380, 660, and 380/660V. The motors use F insulation, but the stator winding temperature rise limit is assessed at B level, offering a larger temperature rise margin and higher safety reliability. The power range is 0.55~200kW.

The main features of explosion-proof motors are as follows:
1. Power ratings, installation dimensions, and speed correspondences are in accordance with DIN 42673, with necessary adjustments made for compatibility with the YB series and interchangeability with the Y2 series, enhancing effectiveness and applicability.
2. Full series utilizes F-grade insulation, temperature rise evaluated according to B-grade standards.
3. Noise limit is lower than the YB series, approaching the I-grade noise of the YB series; vibration limit is comparable to the YB series.
4. Shell protection rating upgraded to IP55.
5. The entire series uses low-noise deep groove ball bearings, with the motor base center height over 180mm, equipped with an oil injection and draining device.
6. The motor heat sinks are available in two types: parallel horizontal distribution and radial distribution, with the parallel horizontal distribution being the primary type.
7. Key performance indicators have reached international standards from the early 1990s.

Explosion-proof motors are primarily used in coal mines, oil and gas industries, petrochemicals, and the chemical industry. Additionally, they are widely employed in sectors such as textiles, metallurgy, urban gas, transportation, grain and oil processing, papermaking, and more.
The rated voltage, current, power, and speed of explosion-proof motors are the same as those of ordinary motors. The difference lies in the additional explosion-proof symbol: Ex.
