Explosion-proof motors, the basic series of low-voltage explosion-proof motors widely used in our country is the YB series explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors, which are derived products of the Y series (IP44) three-phase asynchronous motors. The explosion-proof performance meets the requirements of GB3836.1—83 "General Requirements for Explosion-proof Electrical Equipment Used in Explosive Atmospheres" and GB3836.2—83 "Explosion-proof Electrical Equipment Used in Explosive Atmospheres - Enclosed Electrical Equipment"; the motor power range is 0.55-200kW, with the corresponding base frame size ranging from 80-315mm; explosion-proof markings are dI, dIIAT4, dIIBT4, suitable for underground fixed equipment in coal mines or II A, IIB level factories, where flammable gases or vapors in the T1-T4 temperature groups form explosive mixtures with air; the main housing protection level is IP44, also available in IP54, and the terminal box protection level is IP. The rated frequency is 50Hz, and the rated voltage is 380, 660, 1140, 380/660, 660/140V; the motor insulation grade is F, but the stator winding temperature rise is evaluated at B level, offering a significant temperature rise margin. The main models of the derived series of low-voltage explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors include: YB series (dIIcT4) (base frame height of 80-315mm), YBSO series (small power, base frame height of 63-90mm), YBF series (for fans, base frame height of 63-160mm), YB-H series (marine, base frame height of 80-280mm), YB series (medium-sized, base frame height of 355-450mm), YBK series (for coal mines, base frame height of 100-315mm), YB-W, B-TH, YB-WTH series (base frame height of 80-315mm), YBDF-WF series (for outdoor corrosion-resistant explosion-proof electric valves, base frame height of 80-315mm), and YBDC series (explosion-proof capacitor start single-phase asynchronous motors, base frame height of 71-100mm) and YBZS series explosion-proof double-speed three-phase asynchronous motors for lifting. Additionally, there are YB series high-voltage explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors (base frame height of 355-450, 560-710mm). The YB2 series, co-designed by the industry, passed the national stage by the end of April and will gradually replace the YB series to become the basic series of explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors in our country. The YB2 series consists of 15 base frame sizes (base frame height of 63, 355mm) with a power range of 0.12-315kW.

Explosion-proof electric motor equipment category
Electrical equipment for explosive gas environments is categorized as:
Category I: Electrical Equipment for Use in Coal Mine Shafts
II Class: Electrical equipment for explosive gas environments, excluding coal mine.
II Division "d" flameproof and intrinsic safety "i" electrical equipment are further divided into IIA, IIB, and IIC categories.
Electrical equipment for combustible dust environments is categorized into: Type A Dust-Tight Equipment; Type B Dust-Tight Equipment.

Explosion-proof motors use a flameproof enclosure to isolate the electrical components that may generate sparks, arcs, and dangerous temperatures from the surrounding explosive gas mixtures. However, this enclosure is not airtight; explosive gases can enter the motor interior through gaps at the joints of the enclosure. Upon contact with ignition sources such as sparks, arcs, or high temperatures inside the enclosure, an explosion may occur. In this case, the motor's flameproof enclosure not only remains undamaged or deformed but also prevents the flame or hot gases from igniting the surrounding explosive gas mixture when passing through the joint gaps.

Explosion-proof motors for petrochemical systems
1. There will be an increasing demand for explosion-proof and flameless motors. Users in the petrochemical system have recognized the necessity of developing our country's explosion-proof and flameless motors through practical use.
2. The reliability of explosion-proof motors is increasingly being focused on by users in the petrochemical system. As petrochemical companies develop towards larger-scale facilities and continuous operations, there is a demand for systems to run for long cycles with minimal or no maintenance. Therefore, explosion-proof motors have become the key equipment to ensure these requirements.
3. Explosion-proof and variable-speed motors have become an urgent demand for energy-saving products among petrochemical users. The energy-saving aspects of explosion-proof motors include: 1) developing explosion-proof motor products, and 2) extensively developing various types of explosion-proof variable-speed motors, especially designing variable-speed motors for fans, pumps, and compressors with significant energy-saving potential.
4. New requirements brought by the development of coastal petrochemical enterprises. A batch of oil refineries will be built along the coast of our country, all of which require imports. However, the imports have high sulfur content and severe corrosiveness, thus necessitating explosion-proof motors with enhanced anti-corrosion properties. Additionally, all imports must be shipped by sea, which means the storage tanks require explosion-proof motors with high-head, large oil pumps.
5. The rapid development of the oil industry in China's western region requires the development of explosion-proof motor products suitable for desert arid environments. The market demand for medium to large capacity explosion-proof brushless excitation synchronous motors for hydrogenation units will grow annually.
