Explosion-proof motors are electric motors designed for use in flammable and explosive environments, as they do not produce sparks during operation. Explosion-proof motors employ a flameproof enclosure to separate the electrical components that may generate sparks, arcs, and dangerous temperatures from the surrounding explosive gas mixtures. However, this enclosure is not airtight; explosive gases can enter the motor interior through gaps at the joints of the enclosure. When in contact with ignition sources such as sparks, arcs, or high temperatures inside the enclosure, an explosion may occur. In this case, the motor's flameproof enclosure not only remains undamaged or deformed but also prevents the flame or hot gases from igniting the surrounding explosive gas mixture as they pass through the joint gaps.
