Electrical equipment for explosive gas environments is categorized as:
Category I: Electrical Equipment for Coal Mine Underground Use
II Class: Electrical equipment for explosive gas environments, excluding coal mines.
II Division "d" explosion-proof and intrinsic safety "i" electrical equipment are further classified into IIA, IIB, and IIC categories.
Electrical equipment for combustible dust environments is classified into: Type A Dust-Tight Equipment; Type B Dust-Tight Equipment.

Mine-use explosion-proof motor
1. Developing high-power electric motors: The installed capacity of coal mining machines worldwide has exceeded 1200kW, with their driving motor power reaching 600kW; the corresponding scraper conveyors in mining areas have an installed capacity over 1500kW, and their driving motor power is up to 725kW. In China, the driving motor power of coal mining machines is 400kW, and that of scraper conveyors is 315kW.
2. Develop mining motors for 3.3kV, 6kV, and 10kV voltage levels: This is due to the extension of mining areas after the widespread adoption of comprehensive mechanized coal mining equipment, leading to voltage drops, as well as the use of high-power motors requiring an increased voltage grade.
3. Development of Two-Speed Mining Motors: To meet the requirements of low-speed start and high-speed operation for coal mine conveyors, overseas mining scraper conveyors are all driven by two-speed motors. Compared with foreign standards, the power range, performance indicators, and the performance of the matching control switches of domestic two-speed mining motors all have certain gaps.
4. Enhance the reliability of mining motor: The operating conditions for explosion-proof motors used in mines are poor, with frequent heavy-load startups, significant load fluctuations, voltage fluctuations, high environmental temperatures, and certain corrosiveness. These factors all impact the motor's reliability and lifespan.

The main features of explosion-proof motors are as follows:
1. Power ratings, installation dimensions, and rotational speeds correspond to DIN42673, with necessary adjustments made for compatibility with the YB series and interchangeability with the Y2 series, making it more effective and applicable.
2. Full series utilizes F-grade insulation, temperature rise evaluated according to B-grade standards.
3. Noise limits are lower than those of the YB series, approaching the noise level of YB series' Class I, while vibration limits are comparable to the YB series.
4. The shell protection level is upgraded to IP55.
5. Full series equipped with low-noise deep groove ball bearings, motor base center height over 180mm with oil injection and drainage device.
6. The motor heat sinks are available in two types: parallel horizontal distribution and radiant distribution, with the former being the predominant type.
7. Key performance indicators have reached international standards from the early 1990s.
