FANUC CNC System Features Introduction (FANUC Fanuc)
1. Controlled Path Count
Number of CNC controlled feed servo axes (feeds). Each group forms a path during processing, with the option for individual movement or simultaneous coordinated movement among groups.
2. Controlled Axes
Total number of CNC controlled feed servo axes per trajectory.
3. Simultaneously Controlled Axes
Number of feed servo axes interpolated simultaneously per track.
4. PMC Controlled Axis (Axis Control by PMC)
Feed servo axis controlled by a PMC (Programmable Machine Tool Controller). Control commands are programmed into the PMC's program (ladder diagram), making modifications inconvenient, so this method is typically used only for feed axes with fixed movement amounts.
5. CF Axis Control (T Series)
In the lathe system, the rotation position (angle) control of the spindle is achieved by the feed servo motor, just like other feed axes. This axis is linked with other feed axes for interpolation, allowing for the machining of any curve.
6. Cs Contour Control (T Series)
In the lathe system, the rotation position (angle) control of the spindle is not achieved by the feed servo motor but by the FANUC spindle motor. The position (angle) of the spindle is detected by a high-resolution encoder mounted on the spindle (not the spindle motor). At this point, the spindle operates as a feed servo axis, with a movement speed of degrees/minute, and can be interpolated with other feed axes to produce contour curves.
7. Rotary Axis Control
The feed shaft is set as the rotating shaft for angle position control. The angle of a full rotation can be set to any value using parameters. Typically, in the FANUC system, only feed shafts other than the basic axes can be set as rotating shafts.
8. Controlled Axis Detach
A certain feed servo axis has detached from CNC control without any system alarm. Generally used for indexing table control, when the machine tool does not require the indexing table, this function involves unplugging the indexing table motor plug and removing the indexing table.
9. Servo Disengagement
The power to the feeding servo axis is disconnected using the PMC signal, allowing it to be manually moved freely while still being monitored in real-time by the CNC for its actual position. This feature can be used to control the movement of the worktable on CNC machines using a mechanical handwheel, or to avoid overcurrent in the feeding motor when the worktable or indexing table is mechanically clamped.
10. Location Tracking (Follow-up)
When the servo is turned off, emergency stopped, or an alarm occurs, if there is a mechanical position shift on the worktable, there will be a position error in the CNC position error register. The position tracking function is to modify the machine tool position monitored by the CNC controller, making the error in the position error register zero. Of course, whether to execute position tracking should be determined based on the actual control requirements.
11. Incremental Encoder
Rotary (angular) position measuring element, mounted on the motor shaft or ball screw, emits evenly spaced pulses during rotation to indicate displacement. Since there is no zero point on the encoder disk, it cannot represent the machine tool's position. It can only indicate the position of the worktable or the like after the machine tool has returned to zero and the zero point of the machine tool coordinate system has been established. It should be noted that the signal output of incremental encoders has two modes: serial and parallel. The CNC unit corresponds to these with serial and parallel interfaces.
Encoder (Absolute Pulse Coder)
Revolving (angular) position measuring element, with the same application as incremental encoders, the difference being that this encoder has a zero point on its disc, which serves as the reference for pulse counting. Therefore, the count can represent displacement as well as reflect the actual position of the machine tool in real-time. Moreover, the position of the machine tool is not lost after shutdown, and it can be immediately put into operation for processing without returning to the zero point upon startup. Like incremental encoders, attention should be paid to the serial and parallel outputs of the pulse signal during use to match the interface with the CNC unit. (Early CNC systems did not have serial ports.)
13. FSSB (FANUC Serial Servo Bus)

The Bus is a high-speed transmission bus between the CNC unit and the servo amplifier, allowing the transmission of control signals for 4-8 axes via a single optical cable. Therefore, to differentiate between each axis, relevant parameters must be set.
14. Simple Synchronous Control
Two feed axes are in use: one is the driven shaft and the other is the driven shaft. The driven shaft receives CNC motion commands, while the driven shaft follows the movement of the driven shaft to achieve synchronized movement of the two axes. The CNC continuously monitors the position of the two axes but does not compensate for their errors. If the movement position of the two axes exceeds the set parameter value, the CNC triggers an alarm and simultaneously stops the movement of all axes. This feature is used for dual-axis drive on large worktables.
