What are the methods for inspecting and identifying scrap stainless steel?
1. Distinguishing by toughness and hardness: Common scrap steel is soft with toughness, easily bent but not easily broken; chromium stainless scrap steel is hard, can be bent under impact but not broken; nickel-chromium stainless scrap steel is tenacious, can be bent under impact but not broken.
2. Differentiated by antioxidant properties: Common scrap steel is prone to oxidation and rust, whereas; chrome stainless scrap steel is less prone to rust; nickel-chromium stainless scrap steel is also less prone to rust.
3. Color differentiation: Common scrap steel is blackish-brown; chrome stainless scrap steel is white after pickling; unpickled is brown-black; nickel-chromium stainless scrap steel is silvery-white after pickling; unpickled is brownish-white (chrome-manganese-nitrogen steel is black, hard); cold-rolled, unannealed is silvery-white with a reflective surface, hard.
4. Magnetic differentiation: Ordinary scrap steel can always be attracted by a magnet under any circumstances; chromium stainless scrap steel is magnetic and can be attracted by a magnet; nickel-chromium stainless scrap steel is non-magnetic when annealed. After cold working, it gains a slight magnetic property, but high manganese steel and chromium-manganese steel with high manganese content do not have magnetic properties.
5. Differentiate by luster: Common scrap steel has a glossy appearance; Chromium stainless scrap steel is dull; Nickel-chromium stainless scrap steel is glossy.
6. Copper擦拭区别: Common scrap steel shows purple-red; Chrome stainless steel remains unchanged; Nickel-chromium stainless steel, scrape off the oxide layer, drop a little water, and the copper擦拭 remains unchanged.
