A DC Torque Motor is a specialized type of permanent magnet brushless synchronous motor. As the load is directly connected to the rotor, no transmission components are required, making torque motors part of direct drive technology. Torque motors are also known as "frameless" motors. This means the motor has no housing, bearings, or measurement system. These components are selected by the machine manufacturer based on the required performance or purchased as a set.
This motor's structural design boasts the following outstanding advantages:
- Low sine back electromotive force harmonic content, with typical design values of 2.5% for the third harmonic and 0.3% for the fifth harmonic;
- No cogging torque fluctuations;
- Wide torque/current linear range with high linearity;
- High torque density;
- Ultra-low hysteresis damping torque;
- Ultra-low inductance, with a small electrical time constant and fast dynamic response;
- Low requirement for the concentricity of stator and rotor installation;
These advantages ensure smooth and noiseless operation of the torque motor in this series, capable of achieving ultra-high precision and ultra-low-speed servo operation when paired with appropriate sensors and drivers. The motor's modular, thin annular structure is particularly suitable for applications with stringent requirements for space dimensions and weight. This series of motors can meet environmental requirements ranging from -50°C to +85°C.
