Most regions across the country are suitable for cultivation, with high yields and maturation in June.
The petiole is 140 cm long, the leaf is elliptical, with a diameter of 75 cm. The flowers are white with red tips. The main lotus root has 5 to 7 nodes, each 120 to 150 cm long, with a cross-section of 7 to 8 cm, weighing 5 to 6 kg per stem. The terminal nodes are thick and large, penetrating the mud by 25 to 30 cm. The skin is pale yellow-white. Planting in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is usually done in early April, and the green lotus roots are harvested in late July. By September, the mature lotus roots can yield about 1500 kg, which are sweet for raw consumption, floury for soups, and also suitable for stir-frying.
