Knowledge of Beer Boxes
A beer box is a paper box made by die-cutting and forming cardboard, with the main material being corrugated cardboard.
The beer box comes in various styles such as the bottom-locked box, double-insert box, and airplane box. It features lightweight, convenient transportation and storage, and low cost, and is applied to different product packaging based on its unique characteristics.
Manufacturing Process
1. When selecting paper, beer box wrapping paper typically uses double copper or matte copper paper, with grammage usually at 128G, 105G, or 157G. It's rare for beer box wrapping paper to exceed 200G, as thicker wrapping paper can lead to bubbling in the beer box and an unattractive appearance. The pasteboard is chosen based on the customer's needs and is commonly known as greyboard or grey cardstock.
2. Die Cutting: Current beer boxes emphasize aesthetic beauty, thus the color options for the die-cutting are diverse. Typically, a single style of beer box comes in not only the four basic colors but also several spot colors, such as gold and silver, which are considered spot colors.
3. Die cutting is a crucial step in the printing process. Accuracy in die cutting is essential; if it's not precise, the cuts may be off, incomplete, or uneven, all of which can affect subsequent processing.
4. Printing: Beer boxes are only printed with packaging paper, while the lamination is not printed and is at most dyed. Since beer boxes are outer packaging boxes, the printing requirements for beer boxes are very high, and they are very sensitive to color discrepancies, ink spots, and other defects that affect aesthetics.
5. Surface Treatment: The packaging paper for beer boxes usually requires surface treatment, common processes include glossy lamination, matte lamination, UV coating, glossy varnish, and matte varnish.
6. Mounting: Generally, printed materials are mounted after being die-cut, but beer boxes are done the opposite – first die-cut, then mounted. This is to avoid damaging the packaging paper and to ensure the overall aesthetic of the beer box, which demands handcrafted mounting paper to achieve a certain level of beauty.
7. Punch holes where necessary, and for those that don't require punching, clean the surface adhesive. After that, the goods are ready for packaging and shipment.
