Corrugated boxes and single-layer cardboard boxes are widely used packaging materials, available in various sizes and models, depending on the material used.
Corrugated boxes commonly come in three, five, and less frequently, seven layers. The layers are divided into inner paper, corrugated paper, core paper, and surface paper. The inner and surface papers can be kraft paper or brown paper, the core paper is made of corrugated paper, and the colors and textures of various papers differ. Additionally, the color and texture of paper produced by different manufacturers also vary.
Corrugated cardboard is made by bonding together face paper, back paper, fluting paper, and corrugated paper that has been processed into a wavy fluting. According to the requirements of product packaging, corrugated cardboard can be processed into single-faced, three-layer, five-layer, seven-layer, eleven-layer, and other types of corrugated cardboard.
Corrugated cardboard made from different wave shapes exhibits varying functionalities. Even with the same quality of face and back papers, the performance of the corrugated board differs due to the variation in wave shapes. The internationally recognized corrugated wave shapes are divided into four types: A-wave, C-wave, B-wave, and E-wave. Their technical specifications and requirements are listed in Table 1. A-wave corrugated board offers good cushioning and elasticity, with C-wave being slightly less than A-wave. However, it has better rigidity and shock resistance than A-wave; B-wave has a higher density, resulting in a flat surface and high compressive strength, suitable for printing; E-wave, due to its thinness and density, showcases its stiffness and strength.
