Advantages of paralleling generator sets
1. Enhance the reliability and continuity of the power supply system: As multiple units are integrated into a power grid, the voltage and frequency become more stable, capable of withstanding the impact of greater load fluctuations.
2. Enhanced maintenance and service convenience: Parallel operation of multiple machines allows for centralized scheduling and distribution of active and reactive loads, making maintenance and repairs more convenient and timely.
3. Enhanced Economic Efficiency: Appropriate numbers of low-power units can be deployed based on the online load size, reducing fuel and oil waste associated with high-power units under low loads.
4. Future Expansion with Greater Flexibility: Install only the power generation and parallel equipment required at present. When the company needs to expand the grid capacity later, additional generator sets can be added, and it will be easy to connect the expanded sets in parallel, making the initial investment more economical.

Generator set paralleling scheme classification and control methods:
Manual and Parallel Operation: Utilizes lighting or synchronization gauge for indication. This method is typically used in older diesel generator sets with mechanical speed regulation.
2. Semi-Automatic Parallel Connection: Auto-parallel connection, manual disconnection, commonly used for main or backup power supply in factories.
3. Automatic Parallel Operation: In the event of a power outage, automatically starts 2 or more generator sets. After paralleling, supplies power to the load. Upon the restoration of city power, automatically disconnects and the sets shut down automatically. Typically used as backup power for buildings.
4. Peak Shaving and Parallel Operation (Fully Automatic Parallel Operation): Based on the automatic parallel operation, it provides logical functions for the automatic engagement and parallel operation of multiple units, as well as the automatic disengagement and shutdown, according to the variation in load size.
5. Three Remote Control and Parallel System: A parallel system using a dedicated single-chip microcomputer system to complete communication and connection between the parallel cabinet and the generator set with a PC.
The process of paralleling and derating during the normal operation of a power generation set:
1. Set all selections on the operation screen to "Automatic," allowing the generator set to be in an automatic standby state.
2. Upon confirmation of the power grid failure and the delay, the 1# generator set (main set) commences startup.
3. After normal operation, the generator set will close the circuit 10 seconds (preset value, can be set arbitrarily) after delay, with power directly entering the busbar.
4. Once the 1# generator set reaches 70% of its rated power (adjustable), the 1# control cabinet sends an automatic start signal to the 2# generator set, which then begins to start up. The synchronization module will automatically detect the synchronization status of both the 1# and 2# generator sets. When they are synchronized, the 2# generator set's circuit breaker closes, and the unit is fully connected to the grid.
5. As the grid load gradually decreases, the unit can disconnect the excess generating sets from the grid based on the actual load conditions, thereby shutting down and cooling down; if the load suddenly increases after some units are disconnected, the control system will detect the increase in load. When the load increase reaches 70% (can be set) of the operating units' load, the system will automatically start the next unit, connect it in parallel, and put it into service.
6. Upon restoration of the municipal power grid, after a delayed confirmation, the generator load air circuit breaker is disengaged, allowing the generator set to continue running at no load for a period (which can be set to 3 minutes) to cool down the equipment. After 3 minutes, shut down the generator set, and all generator sets will then return to standby mode.
7. During automatic paralleling of the unit, the automatic time synchronization does not exceed 3 seconds.
