Dracaena sanderiana AsparagussetaceusAlso known as Asparagus setaceus, Japanese Sedge, or Nandina, it can reach several meters in height. The root of the plant is slightly fleshy, with soft, tufted stems that are slender and elongated. The stems have many branches that are nearly smooth. The leafy branches are bristle-like, slightly triangular; the basal scales of the leaves have a slightly thorny sinus or the sinus is not prominent. The flowers are white with short stalks, blooming from September to October. The berries turn purple-black when ripe, containing 1 to 3 seeds. The fruiting period is from winter to the following spring.
Originating from South Africa, distributed across central, northwestern China, the Yangtze River basin, and southern regions. Prefers warm and humid conditions with semi-shaded and ventilated environments; intolerant of severe cold and drought in winter; avoids direct sunlight in summer.
