Diesel generator sets are power generation equipment primarily fueled by diesel, utilizing diesel engines as the prime mover to drive generators (also known as dynamo) for electricity production, converting kinetic energy into electrical and thermal energy. The complete diesel generator set is mainly divided into three parts:
Diesel engine.
2. Generator (also known as an electric ball).
3. Controller.
In detail, the components include the base, diesel engine, base fuel tank, genset (also known as an electric ball), controller (which controls and protects the genset), radiator (air-cooled: fan; water-cooled: water tank), and soundproof enclosure, among others. To meet varying local requirements, we categorize gensets into fixed and mobile trailer types. To reduce noise emitted by gensets and minimize disruption to work and life, designers have developed gensets with soundproof enclosures. This involves installing a metal box externally, lined with sound-absorbing material to protect the genset. The box is equipped with doors for easy maintenance and control access. The soundproof enclosure not only reduces noise but can also be placed outdoors, serving as a shelter from sun and rain, alleviating the hassle of finding a space for a generator room. Diesel gensets are divided into regular and backup types, with power ratings corresponding to regular and backup power. The standard regular power rating for each genset is typically 80% of the backup power. For regular use, rely on the national grid; use the backup diesel genset only when power is out. For long-term operation, opt for the regular diesel genset, which can run for over 300 days a year with regular maintenance. The relationship between regular and backup power is as follows: if a user requires a 100KW diesel genset, the backup 100KW genset's regular power is 100KW * 80% = 80KW. That is, the regular power of a backup 100KW diesel genset is 80KW. If a genset is fitted with a soundproof enclosure, the power rating will typically decrease by about 10%. Therefore, when purchasing a diesel genset, users should consider the power reduction issue caused by the soundproof enclosure.
