The purpose of using compensation wires:
(1) Move the reference end of the thermocouple from a high-temperature location to a more stable environmental temperature area.
(2) Saves a significant amount of precious and rare metal materials used in the manufacturing of thermocouples.
(3) The use of compensating wires facilitates installation and laying of the lines.
(4) Replacing thermocouple wires with thicker diameters and higher conductivity can reduce the resistance in the thermocouple circuit, benefiting measurement and automatic control.
When using compensating wires, note the following points:
(1) Various compensation wires are only compatible with the corresponding thermocouple models. This means that the thermoelectric properties of each thermocouple and its matching compensation wire must be identical within the specified temperature range (0~100℃).
(2) The temperature at the compensation wire and thermocouple connection point must not exceed the specified operating temperature.
(3) When compensating wires and thermocouples are connected to instruments, the positive and negative poles must not be reversed, and the two pairs of connection points must be at the same temperature.
(4) Select the wire diameter of the compensating wire based on the line resistance requirements of the instruments to be matched.
