Optimized Lightning Rod, Direct Strike Protection for Tall Buildings, Discharge Lightning Rod

Lightning rod, also known as a lightning arrester or air terminal, is a device used to protect buildings, tall trees, and other structures from lightning strikes. A lightning rod is installed at the top of the protected object and connected to an underground ground grid using compliant wiring. The specifications of the lightning rod must meet national standards, and the height specifications required for each lightning protection category vary.

When lightning clouds discharge near the ground, they distort the ground electric field. At the top of the lightning rod, a localized area of electric field concentration is formed to influence the direction of development of the lightning leader discharge, guiding the lightning to discharge onto the lightning rod. It then travels through the grounding down conductor and grounding equipment to channel the lightning current into the earth, thereby protecting the object from lightning strikes.
