Optimized Lightning Rod, Direct Strike Protection and Lightning Discharge Rod for High-Rise Buildings
Lightning rod, also known as a lightning arrester or grounding rod, is a device used to protect buildings and tall trees from lightning strikes. A grounding rod is installed at the top of the protected object and connected to an underground ground grid with a compliant wire. The specifications of the lightning rod must comply with national standards, and the height specifications required for each lightning protection category vary.
When lightning clouds discharge near the ground, they distort the ground's electric field. At the tip of the lightning rod, a localized area of concentrated electric field is formed to influence the direction of the lightning leader discharge, guiding the lightning to discharge into the lightning rod, and then through the grounding downrods and grounding equipment, the lightning current is channeled into the earth, thereby protecting the object from lightning strikes.
