Plastic geogrid is a polymer mesh material with square or rectangular patterns, formed through stretching. Depending on the stretching direction during manufacturing, it can be either unidirectional or bidirectional. It is created by punching holes into polymer sheets (typically made from polypropylene or high-density polypropylene) that have been extruded.
Then, under heating conditions, directional stretching is performed. Single-directionally stretched grid is stretched only along the length of the sheet, whereas bidirectionally stretched grid is made by further stretching the single-directionally stretched grid perpendicular to its length. Glass fiber geogrid is a woven mesh structural material made of glass fiber, utilizing a specific weaving technique.
A geosynthetic composite material treated with a special coating process to protect glass fiber and enhance overall performance. The main components of the glass fiber are silicon dioxide, an inorganic material with extremely stable physical and chemical properties. It features high strength, high modulus of elasticity, excellent wear resistance, and excellent resistance to cold. There is no long-term creep; it has good thermal stability; the reticular structure allows for interlocking and restraint of aggregates; and it improves the load-bearing capacity of asphalt mixtures. The special modified asphalt coating on the surface provides dual composite properties, greatly enhancing the wear resistance and shear capability of the geogrid. Sometimes, it is配合with self-adhesive pressure-sensitive adhesive and surface asphalt immersion treatment, allowing the grid to be tightly bonded with the asphalt pavement. Due to the increased interlocking force of soil and aggregate within the geogrid mesh, the coefficient of friction between them significantly increases (up to 0.8-1.0).
The tensile resistance of geogrids buried in soil significantly increases due to the strong frictional咬合力 between the geogrid and soil mass, making it an excellent reinforcing material. Additionally, geogrids are lightweight, flexible plastic flat meshes that are easy to cut and connect on-site, can be overlapped, and are simple to install without requiring special machinery or technical personnel.
