Several modes and methods for river channel sediment removal
For smaller waterways without flood control, drainage, or navigation functions, the process of draining and dredging can be achieved by constructing temporary embankments in the construction section of the waterway. After draining the water, the sediment can be removed either through dry excavation or hydraulic dredging. The process of draining can be further divided into two techniques: dry excavation for sediment removal and hydraulic dredging for sediment removal.Grab Bucket Dredging: Utilizing a grab bucket dredger to excavate riverbed silt, the bucket extends into the riverbed through the dredger's arm, driven by hydraulic pressure to insert and close around the silt at the bottom. The bucket is then lifted, rotated, and opened, depositing the silt directly into a barge moored alongside the dredger. The process repeats with excavation, rotation, and unloading.
