BSMI is the abbreviation for the English "Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection" of the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs.
In accordance with the announcement from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, as of July 1, 2005, products entering the Taiwan region must undergo regulation in two aspects: electromagnetic compatibility and safety standards. Depending on the type of product, there are three certification methods listed below:
(One), Type Approval Batch Inspection or Verification Logging (25 Items)
Accounting machines, cash registers, simulative or mixed automatic data processing machines, portable digital automatic data processing machines, other digital automatic data processing machines, other digital data processing units, excluding those under headings 8471.41 or 8471.49, terminals, dot-matrix printers, laser printers,菊花轮式列表机, other printers, keyboards, image scanners, other input or output units, calculators with special programmed functions or word processors with memory capability, magnetic or optical readers, data input devices for input data processors, other automatic data processing machines under heading 8471, automatic teller machines, uninterruptible power supplies (with a capacity not exceeding 10 kilovolt-amps), other uninterruptible power supplies, electrical machines with translation or dictionary functions, drafting tables and machines with data processing systems, and drafting machines with data processing systems, and 25 other products.
(II) Verification of Login (2 Item)
"Static converters for automatic data processing machines and their附属 units and communication devices" and "other switching power supplies" are changing from compliance declaration inspection to product verification registration.
(3) Compliance Declaration (25 items, 18 items for safety regulations)
1. A total of seventeen product categories, including pocket-sized data recorders with computing functions, machines for reproduction and display, electronic calculators (not operated with an external power source), electronic calculators with list devices, other electronic calculators, other calculators, hard disk drives, soft disk drives, CD drives, other disk drives, other storage units, other automatic data processing unit components, and accessories for other machines under CN code 8471.10, etc., which are subject to conformity assessment inspections.
2. The following eight products will be reclassified under the Compliance Declaration (DoC) inspection: word processors, automatic typewriters, electric typewriters, other electric typewriters, Braille typewriters (weight not exceeding 12 kg), Braille typewriters (weight exceeding 12 kg), non-electric typewriters (weight not exceeding 12 kg), and other non-electric typewriters.
3. The following seven categories are not included in the safety regulations inspection scope: electronic calculators (excluding those operated with an external power source), integrated magnetic (optical) disk drives, computer mainboards, and internal cards.
