II. Terms of Use
(1) New Railway
High-speed rail lines with design speeds of 200 km/h and above use 2.2m-high reinforced concrete guardrails with 0.5m-tall wire mesh rolls; for rail lines with design speeds below 200 km/h, 1.8m-high reinforced concrete guardrails are generally used.
(2) Under-construction Railway Project
Designs for railroads with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour or more, sections equipped with metal guardrails should have barbed wire rolls installed on the outer side; sections without installed railway isolation metal mesh should be set according to the standards of new railway engineering, with guardrails to be set within 0.5 meters of the land boundary.
(3) Existing railway reconstruction projects
Section 3: This section primarily introduces reinforced concrete column metal mesh protection fence
Reinforced concrete pillar metal mesh fence consists of pillars, mesh panels, and connecting parts, with a protective height of 1.8 meters.
Pole
The columns are prefabricated with C30 reinforced concrete, having a cross-sectional size of 120mm x 120mm and a height of 2.2m. During prefabrication, a 42mm x 42mm square hole is left at the center of the top, with a depth of 150mm. During installation, a 40mm x 40mm square tube with a 2.5mm thickness, fitted with a connecting plate and sealed, is inserted into the hole. The tube's insertion end is 150mm long, with the exposed part bent outward at a 30° angle, and the vertical height is 300mm. Three 12mm circular holes are pre-drilled at corresponding positions on the column for securing the side connecting plates with bolts during installation.
(2) Metal Mesh Sheets
Metal mesh panel with Q235 short tube frame, size 30mm x 50mm, short tube thickness 2.0mm, internal mesh wire made of HPB300 6.5mm high-tensile steel wire cold drawn, size 75mm x 150mm, top folded outward at 30° angle, vertical height 300mm.
(3) Connector plate and bolts
Pole connection plate, mesh connection plate in 90° angle, folded corner Q235 steel plate, thickness 4.0mm, available in three types (A, B, C) depending on the installation location.
The connecting plates and bolts are made of Q235 steel and zinc-plated, with a zinc coating of 270g/㎡.
(4) Basic
The foundation design of protective fences should consider factors such as regional wind pressure, soil (rock) conditions, freezing depth, and impact resistance requirements, adjusting the dimensions reasonably while ensuring the stability of the fence.
When embedding the pillar, strict control of the position is required. After positioning, pour C25 concrete and ensure that the pillar does not shift in either direction, remains vertically upright. Remove the pillar support only when the concrete foundation reaches 70% of its designed strength.
(5) Fence Gate
Gates are set according to the needs of construction, electrical, and other equipment inspection and maintenance work.
Reinforced concrete pillars with metal mesh protective fences are available in two styles: single-door or double-door. The single-door width is 1.5m, while the double-door width is 3m. The mesh design matches the protective fence and is connected to the pillars via pins and pin sleeves.
Set "No Entry" warning signs during the prefabrication of the pillars. The door should be equipped with a lock and be waterproof.
(6) Transportation and Installation
Pillars, top and bottom headers, and column caps should be protected during transportation with materials such as straw mats,稻草, sawdust, or other shock-absorbing cushioning materials. The stacking height should not exceed five layers vertically and the height should not exceed 600mm. Metal mesh panels and connecting components should be effectively packaged to prevent dents. Reinforced concrete panels should be arranged vertically with cushioning material in between to prevent collisions.

The installation of protective fences should be "strict, straight, aligned, and aesthetically pleasing." The wiring should be sealed tightly without any gaps, running straight along the route without sudden changes in distance; the top and bottom ends of the protective fence should have a smooth and even transition, without sudden changes in height. The overall effect should be visually appealing, avoiding a sense of disarray. The site should be cleared before installation, with the lower sill and ground level to be level and compacted, ensuring that drainage on both sides is not affected. The height of the fence bottom from the ground should not exceed 5 cm.
When installing the protective fence, the ground on both sides of the fence should be leveled and compacted. If the fence is set on a slope or there is a height difference on the ground on both sides of the fence, the elevated parts within a 2-meter range on both sides should be leveled. The ground on both sides should be at an equal height and not higher than the bottom of the fence's lower rail to ensure that the fence reaches the protective height on both sides.
The protective fence should be set at least 2 meters beyond the entrance and exit of the tunnel building; it may not be required if the terrain is steep and people or animals cannot reach.
